For years, this family dreamed and saved for a kitchen renovation that would accommodate their growing family - an island for 4 kids and a space large enough to entertain! When the architectural planning began, moving the kitchen to the back of the house and taking some square footage from an oversized (and underutilized) living room made the most sense, resulting in an extensive first-floor remodel! Changing the kitchen's location completely transformed how the house functions for this family of six, allowing every room to be used more completely and efficiently.

Gorgeous cabinets (Benjamin Moore Simply White for the perimeters, Benjamin Moore Little Falls for the island and built-ins), contrasting countertops (more budget-friendly quartz on the perimeters, statement-making quartzite on the island), and adding built-ins around the existing fireplace create a beautiful space that looks like it has always been there. More budget-conscious lighting, hardware, and backsplash tiles complete the room beautifully, proving you don't have to sacrifice style for cost! Making changes to the original fireplace was not in the cards so we simply added a quartzite mantel from the island remnants and painted everything to match. The kitchen table will sit in front of the fireplace and open into the new family room. Quite a transformation from the original kitchen!
